Committees of Council
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee makes recommendations and decisions concerning financial and accounting matters. A report from the committee is a standard item on the Council agenda.
The Academic Board is tasked with ensuring the University maintains the highest standards in teaching, scholarship and research.
The Audit and Risk Management Committee advises the Council on the quality of audits conducted and the adequacy of administrative, operating and accounting controls and compliance with relevant legislation and policies. The committee also oversees risk management planning and implementation.
The Honorary Degrees Committee invites people to accept nomination for honorary degrees and recommends the names of those who accept nomination to the Council.
The Committee on Conditions and Appointment of the Vice-Chancellor determines the conditions of appointment of the Vice-Chancellor.
The Emergency Appointment (Vice-Chancellor) Committee exercises the power of Council to make acting appointments under sub-section 37 of the Australian National University Act 1991 in relation to the office of Vice-Chancellor until the next meeting of the Council.
University committees
The University Access and Equity Committee advises the Academic Board and the Vice-Chancellor on the quality and standard of access and equity at ANU, on matters relating to the ANU community, and on major issues of access, equity and community relevant to strategic plans and overarching policy.
The University Education Committee advises the Academic Board and the Vice-Chancellor on the quality and standard of the University's undergraduate and graduate education and research training activities, and on major issues of education and research training relevant to strategic plans and overarching policy.
The University Research Committee advises the Academic Board and the Vice-Chancellor on matters relating to the quality and standard of ANU research, and on major issues of research relevant to strategic plans and overarching policy.
The joint committee advises the Vice-Chancellor on major issues of University-wide strategy or significance, on overarching plans and policies, and on the broad policies in relation to conditions of service of staff
The University Information Strategy Committee considers matters relating to ANU information infrastructure, management and services, and major issues relevant to the University's strategic plans and overarching policy.
