Scholarships

The Governance Office administers the selection process for the following national scholarships and awards.

    

Rhodes Scholarships to Oxford for Australia-At-Large

Nine Rhodes Scholarships are available each year for outstanding Australians (over 18 and under 25 by 1 October in the year of application) to study at Oxford University. Three Scholarships are offered in the Australia-At-Large round. Candidates must apply in the State or Territory in which they receive/d their first degree and must have achieved (or expect to receive in the year of application) First Class Honours or equivalent. Applications are due by 1 September each year.

Menzies Scholarships to Harvard

Menzies Scholarships are granted each year to talented Australians who have gained admission to a Harvard graduate school. The ideal candidates are Australians whose primary objective after completing their studies at Harvard,is to make a significant contribution to this country's development. Applications are due by mid-February each year.

General Sir John Monash Awards

Eight Monash Awards are available for outstanding Australians who have graduated from Australian universities to study overseas. Applications are due by 31 August each year.

Neville Bonner Memorial Scholarship

One Neville Bonner Scholarship is available each year for an Indigenous Australian to study Honours in Political Science (or related subjects) at any Australian university. Applications are due by the end of January each year.

The Allan Martin Award

This Award assists early-career historians to further their research in Australian History, particularly to publish work (or achieve a public outcome) which will make a significant contribution to this field. The Award is valued at $4,000. It is offered every two years and will be presented at the Australian Historical Association (AHA) biennial conference.
