Vice-Chancellor's awards

The Vice-Chancellor's Awards are presented at the Staff Excellence Awards Ceremony usually held in November each year in the Great Hall, University House.

The ANU 25-Year Service Medallions and 40-Year Service Awards are also presented at this Ceremony. Find out more about the Vice-Chancellor's Awards.

Nomination process for the Chancellor's Awards

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellors, College Heads and Directors of Administrative Divisions are invited to submit names of potential recipients (with a one paragraph supporting statement) for the initial consideration of the Vice-Chancellor. Staff or Student Associations are encouraged to submit nominations through the relevant College Head or Director. The Vice-Chancellor may, at his discretion, request that a formal proposal be developed for consideration by the Chancellor’s Awards Committee. (Citations for each of the past recipients are linked below). Names may be submitted by Friday, 6 July 2012 to the Governance Office by email to karen.holt@anu.edu.au 

The Chancellor's Awards are presented each year during the December Conferring of Degrees' Ceremonies. For more information on the Conferring Ceremonies and/or to book tickets visit the Graduations website or email graduation.officer@anu.edu.au.

Peter Baume Award

Purpose and eligibility

Named after former ANU Chancellor, Professor the Hon. Peter Baume AC, this is the University's most prestigious award. It recognises eminent achievement and merit of the highest order. Staff, students and alumni of the University whose contributions to the economic, cultural, scientific or social development of Australia or the international community has demonstrated eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree are eligible for the Award.

Nature of the award

A glass sculpture designed by the ANU School of Art. It is expected that one award will be made each year; however, more will be awarded if the calibre of candidates is exceptional in any given year.

Chancellor's Award for Distinguished Contribution to the University

Purpose and eligibility

This award recognises distinguished service of a high degree. Staff, students and alumni of the University whose contribution to the economic, cultural, scientific or social development of Australia or the international community has demonstrated distinguished service of a high degree are eligible for the Award.

Nature of the award

A glass sculpture designed by the ANU School of Art. Up to five may be awarded in any given year.

Award for Outstanding Service to the Campus Community

Purpose and eligibility

To recognise outstanding contributions to the life of the campus community. The Award recognises voluntary and sustained contributions, over and above what might reasonably be expected in the course of duty, which enhance the general welfare and life of the campus and benefit the institution as a whole. Staff and visiting fellows who have volunteered their time, expertise, skills and knowledge over several years, and who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to the campus community beyond the normal expectations of their position are eligible for the Award.

A glass sculpture designed by the ANU School of Art. Up to five may be awarded in any given year.
